How did it all start?
"We've always been a beach-loving
family, and for us, a vacation without a beach is no vacation at all. Whether
it was a remote island or a bustling coastal town, our beach adventures were
never complete without a beach clean-up. In 2018, while navigating a busy
career shift within KLM Airlines that involved frequent travel, I faced a
growing issue—I was using an excessive number of disposable cups. It was then
that I discovered the foldable coffee cup, a convenient and eco-friendly solution
for life on the go. This small but impactful change marked the beginning of our
commitment to reducing single-use plastic. We're far from perfect, but we're
giving it our best shot.
.In 2023, we made a life-changing decision to
leave the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam for a simpler life on the island of
Koh Samui, Thailand. Our move to Koh Samui has allowed us to get closer to
nature, spend more time outdoors, and step out of the rat-race. Moving to Samui
hasn't been without its challenges, and it's not always easy to start fresh in
a new country But, I'm glad to have met local people who are just as passionate about sustainability as we are. We work together on making a positive impact.
Excited to work alongside Mac and Dan, we're on a mission for sustainability. With Dan, we're setting up recycling stations across the island. Mac and I are turning ocean waste from Koh Samui and Koh Mat Lang into unique products and art prints.
In collaboration with the local community, we sort and repurpose waste, supporting local sustainability efforts. Any waste we can't handle is sent to the waste bank, thanks to our partnership with Blue Ocean Plastic Recycling. This keeps it out of the ocean, preserving our beautiful surroundings.
